Kevin M. El-Hayek, MD

Our Background

Kevin El-Hayek, MD, FACS is Section Head of Endoscopic Surgery and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery at the MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard University and received an MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2006. He then joined the Cleveland Clinic for residency in general surgery followed by clinical fellowships in minimally invasive surgery/endoscopic surgery and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. He was on faculty at the Cleveland Clinic from 2013-2019 before moving to the MetroHealth System. Dr. El-Hayek is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He is serving as the President of the Cleveland Surgical Society from 2021-2022. His clinical and research interests include endoscopic surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. He has published and presented extensively on numerous gastrointestinal disorders including MALS; with a particular interest in evaluating the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery. He currently serves as a deputy editor for Digestive Disease Interventions and is a reviewer for multiple journals. He treats both children and adults with MALS.
